Hey folks,
On behalf of Bob, Craig, Project U.S.E. and I, we would like to take a moment and thank everyone who participated, donated and supported in this year’s 50 Mile Hike. It was our 10 year anniversary and we celebrated by having the most hikers ever! Forty six (46) people participated in this unique challenge and each one of them did a fantastic job.
The hiking itself is quite demanding. Add sleep deprivation and a ridiculously hot day to the mix and the 50 mile hike challenge becomes a much harder event to accomplish. Still, people pushed through. Some people hiked 9 miles others 13 miles. Most hikers averaged 16-28 miles, and a hand full of participants went 32-39 miles before calling it a day. Well done folks!
Even with a few elements conspiring against us, we had the most finishers ever! Eight hikers completed the course. They started hiking at 3:53 a.m and finished at:
PJ Rakowski 3:30 pm (11 hours 37 minutes), a new course record! Move over Travis Trembly your 12 hours 30 minute record has been shattered. Are you kidding me? Yes, PJ is part machine..Nice job my friend.
David Lertula 4:25 pm (12 hours 32 minutes) A dominating performance! Good enough for the course record if PJ wasn’t around.
Kris Borer 4:25 pm (12 hours 32 minutes) Dido for Kris, great job guys!
Tim Fraser 4:32 pm (12 hours 39 minutes) Tim, we have a couple of items for you, I’ll send them via Rebecca D. Great job!
Phil Bailey 5:30 pm (13 hours 37 minutes) Phil, you equaled my best time ever.. Capone
Donna Strick 6:44 pm (14 hours 51 minutes) Donna holds the fastest time for a female hiker and has completed the full course 3 times! Great job D..
Laura Budde 7:07 pm (15 hours 14 minutes)
Patrick Armitage 7:07pm (15 hours 14 minutes)
Funds Raised
A special thanks to Laura and Patrick, I call them the power couple. They managed to find a combined $1,400.00 in sponsorship monies, a task almost as difficult as hiking 50 miles. The nearly $6,000 raised from the hike will go to further Project U.S.E.’s mission.
Thanks again for your support and remember, next year our goal is to have 75-100 hikers, so start talking it up..
Cheers,
