Pride Arts

Supporting Newark’s LGBTQ Teens + Allies

Pride Arts is open to any LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning) high school student or ally who enjoys learning and creative expression. This seven-week program offers the opportunity for teens to learn about art and themselves and share experiences with people similar to themselves. Pride Arts focuses on affirming LGBTQ identity and strengthening self-respect and community through appreciation and practice of the arts.

Students meet in Newark after school once a week for six weeks and explore painting, photography, creative writing and sculpture in a fun and supportive environment. The program culminates with a weekend retreat at our Wildcat Mountain Wilderness Center.

Pride Arts is led by Kerry Dennehy, a professional illustrator and presenter with an eye for drawing out the artist in all of us. He has extensive experience in LGBTQ workshops and is dedicated to                                                                           improving the lives of young people and enhancing their ability to creatively approach the                                                                           challenges they face.
